Ford has announced that it’s bringing back the super-popular XLT Sport Appearance Package with the 2021 Explorer. When offered in the past, the package was incredibly popular with young drivers in particular, and it was chosen by upwards of 25 percent of all Explorer XLT buyers.
“Our Sport Appearance Package offers a new styling dimension for Explorer XLT customers,” said Craig Patterson, Ford SUV marketing manager. “It has always been a favorite among our younger customers looking for a more energetic design and feel at a great value.”
The 2021 Ford Explorer XLT Sport Appearance Package adds Carbonized Gray-painted 20-inch wheels, grille, skid plates, and hood lettering as well as dual chrome exhaust tips. Inside, ActiveX Light Slate two-tone seats with accent stitching give the Explorer XLT a refined and elevated feel that’s evident every time you climb in.
Ford says that the all-new 2020 Explorer has been a big hit with young drivers with about 18 percent of all customers falling in the 18-35 demo. One reason: the new Explorer ST, which accounts for about 21 percent of all sales and has 28 percent of new customers coming from luxury brands.
