2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Gets More Horsepower, Payload Capabilities

As it was, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning was already promising to be one of the most impressive trucks ever made from a power perspective. Ford has updated horsepower figures for the all-electric F-150 Lightning — as well as payload and range numbers — and it turns out that it’s even stronger than we bargained for.

Both the standard-range and extended-range options for the 2022 Ford F-150 are seeing bumps in horsepower. Models with the standard-range battery now put down 452 horsepower — up from the original target of 426. The extended-range F-150 Lightning now delivers a whopping 580 horsepower, improving over the initial estimate of 563 ponies.

No matter the battery type, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning will deliver 775 lb-ft of torque to match all that horsepower. When properly equipped, an F-150 Lightning can tow up to 10,000 pounds.[1] Another key figure seeing an increase is the payload, which jumps 235 pounds to 2,235 pounds of max hauling power.[2]

And as if that’s all not enough, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning now offers up to 320 miles of maximum range on a full charge.[3] That’s enough to make the drive down to San Antonio and back and still have around 100 miles of range to spare.
