Vehicle-to-Vehicle Charging | La Grange Ford | La Grange, TX

The all-new 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning and the Ford F-150 PowerBoost® hybrid both feature a built-in generator called Pro Power Onboard. Not only can this feature come in handy if you have a power outage, but it also means that these Ford powerhouses have vehicle-to-vehicle charging capabilities at their disposal.

F-150 Lightning and F-150 Lightning trucks with either the 7.2-kilowatt or 9.6-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard are able to distribute power to other electric vehicles. You’ll just need a Ford Mobile Power Cord and a power adapter, and you can use your truck’s 240-volt outlet to charge up any other EV.

Of course, if you’re looking at a 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, you won’t likely need to worry about running out of power. With the extended-range battery, the F-150 Lightning can return an EPA-estimated 300 miles on a full charge.[1] And with Power My Trip via FordPass™, you can ensure that you’re never far from a convenient charging station wherever you roam.

The Pro Power Onboard with vehicle-to-vehicle charging capabilities is just one example of the many technologies that make the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning a game-changer. It also offers Ford Intelligent Backup Power, which can power your home for up to 10 days (with rationing) in an outage.

“There are so many new opportunities to innovate with features and functions made possible only through electrification,” said Patrick Soderborg, Ford e-powertrain systems engineer. “This really hit home during the Texas power crisis last February, which left millions in the cold. F-150 Hybrid helped many Texans keep warm and powered up during those difficult times thanks to Pro Power Onboard – and we’re trying to do even more with F-150 Lightning.”
